Google Search Console
Overview
What Google Search Console is
Google Search Console is a free platform from Google that reports on a website's presence in organic search results. It is not analytics for visitors browsing your pages; it covers the search side, showing how Google crawls, indexes, and ranks your URLs and what people searched before they clicked. Any site serious about SEO should verify ownership and connect it early.
Key reports inside GSC
The Performance report shows queries, pages, countries, and devices with impressions, clicks, average position, and click-through rate. The Pages (indexing) report reveals which URLs Google has indexed and why others are excluded. Additional views cover Core Web Vitals, sitemaps, and rich-result eligibility from your schema markup, plus manual-action and security notices.
How we use GSC in SEO projects
In technical SEO and website redesign work, our Houston team uses Search Console to catch indexing gaps, submit sitemaps, confirm redirects, and validate structured data after launch. Query data guides content and local SEO priorities, and the same signals now inform GEO and AEO work, since answer engines increasingly surface pages Google already trusts and indexes cleanly.

FAQ
Google Search Console — common questions
Is Google Search Console free?
Yes. Google Search Console is completely free for any website owner. You only need to verify that you control the property, typically through a DNS record, an HTML tag, or a Google Analytics connection.
What is the difference between Search Console and Google Analytics?
Search Console reports on Google Search, covering queries, rankings, impressions, and indexing before the click. Google Analytics 4 tracks what visitors do on your site after they arrive. Most SEO programs use both together.
How long does GSC keep data?
Google Search Console retains up to 16 months of Performance data. Export it or connect it to Looker Studio if you need longer historical trends for reporting.
