Hunter.io
Overview
What Hunter.io is
Hunter.io is a web-based tool for finding and verifying professional email addresses, aimed mainly at sales, recruiting, and marketing teams doing B2B outreach. Instead of guessing contact details, users search by name and company domain to get a likely email plus a confidence score.
Its core modules are Email Finder (find one person's address), Domain Search (list the public addresses tied to a company), and Email Verifier (check whether an address is valid and deliverable). A free tier offers a limited number of monthly searches and verifications, with paid plans adding volume and API access.
How it works
Email Finder combines a name and domain with Hunter's index of public sources and common address patterns (for example, first.last@company.com) to propose an address and a confidence percentage. Domain Search returns known addresses for a company along with names and job titles where available.
The Email Verifier checks syntax, domain and MX records, and mailbox existence via SMTP without sending a real message, returning a status such as valid, risky, or invalid. An API and integrations let teams pull this data into a CRM or outreach sequence automatically.
Why it matters
Bad contact data wastes outreach effort and hurts sender reputation. Verifying addresses before a campaign reduces bounces, which protects deliverability and keeps a sending domain in good standing.
Hunter.io is one option among several email-finding tools, and no finder is perfectly accurate — confidence scores are estimates, and some contacts return no result. Teams should still respect privacy laws and anti-spam rules (such as CAN-SPAM and GDPR) when contacting people found this way.

FAQ
Hunter.io — common questions
Is Hunter.io free?
Hunter.io has a free plan with a limited number of monthly searches and verifications. Paid plans add higher volume, more features, and API access; exact limits and pricing change over time, so check the current plans.
How accurate is Hunter.io?
Accuracy varies by contact and industry, and Hunter reports a confidence score rather than a guarantee. Running found addresses through the Email Verifier before outreach reduces bounces, but some contacts return no result or a low-confidence guess.
Does Hunter.io verify emails without sending a message?
Yes. The Email Verifier checks syntax, domain and MX records, and mailbox existence over SMTP without sending an actual email, returning a status such as valid, risky, or invalid.
